About this Garden Plan
This kitchen garden was started four years ago on rough mountain side, scrub land which had never been cultivated. It required a great deal of stone removal of all sizes!!! We endeavour to enhance the soil with our own compost and iron chelate. The strip trenches as seen are dug with a rotovator leaving enough path spaces between each trench. Indulgent but more than sufficient for our needs. The wire link fence is only needed as protection from the wild boar which used to occasionally invade. Now we have added grape vines to the fence. Our fruit tree and flower garden along with two herb gardens are not included. There is a six channel automatic watering system watering five trenches at a time during the night (not shown as yet) The garden gets a light frost on very few occasion but goes on sunup so we are working on a no frost regime and keep fingers crossed.
